The upper of this "Boat" style is crafted from calfskin, which represents an upgrade compared to the rough leather or suede commonly used in vintage designs. Calfskin is known for its fine, tight grain and excellent luster, providing a more premium texture.

The tassel on the shoe upper is modeled after the "Seigin" silk tassel craftsmanship originating from Japan. The term "Seigin" literally means "pure silk" in Japanese.
